As per the Vedic Astrology, Muhurat is a time period of 48 minutes which is selected for starting of any new event. In Western Astrology Muhurat is known as Election Astrology.
 
The best Muhurat or auspicious time for starting any activity should be found out not only on the basis of transiting Moon and planetary placement but also should be based upon the horoscope of the individual or people concerned, which most astrologers do not take into consideration.
